Off Campus, In Common: The City as a Laboratory
[CAL:TS] Opening Night
Tue, 24 Feb 2026 18:00.
The new EU funded programme The City as a Laboratory [CAL:TS] opens with a public sparring session: what can a university do once it steps off campus?
In this evening panel discussion, Francesco Vergani (Politecnico di Milano) presents Milan's Off Campus hubs, where teaching, research and co-design sit inside Milan’s neighbourhoods and work with local partners on real issues. Cléo Mieulet (RIFS Potsdam) shares field experience from re-figuring urban spaces such as neighbourhoods and shopping malls to strengthen urban resilience, civic agency and the transformative impetus of cities.
Our Opening Night shows how universities, residents and partners turn knowledge into shared capability by using the city itself as laboratory. With an inauguration address by Christian Schröder (TU Berlin).
Drinks follow for unhurried exchange.
